Why #GirlBosses Should Wear Pastels

There’s a fabulous attitude on trend right now that the ladies at MOMNI can’t get enough of: the #GirlBoss mindset. Started by Sophia Amoroso’s best-selling memoir, #GirlBoss, it’s a chin up and nose down to the grindstone life and business motto aiming to launch women through all sorts of glass doors. It’s a modern and nasty Cinderella story of how a hitch-hiking twenty-something turned vintage eBay sales into a multi-million dollar corporation. She may not have done it in pastels, but I’m sure she didn’t do it dressed by the fashion rule book either.

If we want to be taken seriously as women, we don’t have to dress like men. Break out the pastels and the pom poms; because our wardrobes can make a powerful impression without the masculine undertones which we’ve been taught dictate the “work professional” dress code. Whether we like it or not, as women, we stand out in the workforce simply because of our gender. So how about we work the contrast instead of covering it up. As the original #GirlBoss says it herself, “If this is a man’s world, who cares? I’m still really glad to be a girl in it.” Wear the pink with pride and let your work speak for itself.
